hello I have a 2003 Yamaha tzr 50 and for some reason when I’m in 6th gear it rides for a bit then something happens and it sounds like the chains fell off (but it hasn’t) and when I rev it it doesn’t actually move just rolls to a stop all I need to do is nock the gear down to 5th and it works as normal, but today I went out on it its doing it in gears 5 and 6, has any one got any clue as to what this could be, how to fix it and how much it will cost to be fixed from a garage (unless its something simple like changing the transmission oil) thanks a lot terry.

  1. guardrail......for that price he could buy 3 new bikes......

  2. Sorry - transmission problems.

From your description, a shift fork, the shift drum, or a couple of gears are slightly worn - just enough to allow some gears to slightly disengage and grind against each other.

    $800 -$1500

Bring your bike to a shop and ask the service manager to allow someone to take  it for a test ride - should be free of charge.

If you're lucky, an adjustment to the shift linkage may fix it - less than $100
