I want to buy a 250 rs Aprilia because there light, small in size, and i like the 2 stroke power bands but iam put off by maintance and oil and there likly to seize or blow up.

Is there a 4 stroke bike thats as small and light and accelerates like a 2 stroke because they say the RS 250 is one of the best handling bikes around?

  1. don't be worried about 2 strokes blowing up and what not, they arent really that bad if you take care of them, make sure you run the right amount of oil in the gas thats about all you have to worry about, ive had a banshee for 6 years now and never have had one problem as far as motor goes, if it does go bad they are pretty cheap to fix compared to a 4stroke that can do alot more damage in there and cost alot more to fix.

  2. How tall are you & how much do you weigh?

Any advantage of a 2 stroke disappears as soon as you put someone 6 feet tall & 11 stone on it!

As you say, running costs are also a nightmare.

An RVF400 is beautifully made, very, very reliable & will handle just as well properly set up.

  3. I just purchased a Derbi GPR 125 Racing because I could not find a Aprilia RS 125 and the RS 250 parts in the United States are getting really expensive so I went with a single cylinder bike. I think my next bike with be a super motard bike that way I can get me my 2 stroke 250 or 500cc bike or maybe a 450 or 550 4 stroke KTM, etc but these are dirt bikes with road racing tires and brakes on them so they are really light compared to a 4 stroke sport bike. I have heard that Aprilia is looking at putting their 450 or 550 4 stroke motor in a RS size bike which I would buy if I could get one to teh States. I actually want to do this http://www.450moto.com/ but I don't have the money.
