Question:

Motorcycle Engine Painting Process?

Okay, I've stripped the bike down, fixed the transmission, and sandblasted everything down to white metal. Everything is clean and clear of sand & grease.

The question is, what is the proper order for reassembling and repainting?

The engine has fins for decorative purposes (it's water cooled), and there are both polished aluminum and painted parts. It's a V-Twin.

My guess is that I should paint it all carefully while it's disassembled, and plan on doing touchup work when it's finally assembled. Seems like that would be easier than trying to mask off polished aluminum on an assembled engine.

Your thoughts? Your experiences?

Thank you!
