  1. Did you check the brakes. Your pads might be worn. many vehicles brake lights don't work when the pads are down to replacing level.

  2. Does it work with either the front OR rear brake? If not, the problem is most likely the wiring to the light itself. Get someone to mash the brake pedal or pull the front brake and back probe the wire (brake light circut) from the tail light assembly. If it lights on the wires, it is a bad socket or bulb. You can also remove the bulb and check the contact in the socket with a volt meter or test light. Be careful to not push the probe all the way through the wire though because it will pop the fuse.

  3. no,they have basic electrics.check power to brake light switch.

  4. it is possibly an adjustment issue with the actual switch that is activated when the brake is applied.

I believe even that old of a goldwing would have 2 of these switches,

one of the rear brake which is mounted vertically with a coil spring attached to the lever, when you press down on the lever, the spring opens the switch... potentially the spring is missing or stretched to where the switch isn't activated???

and another one as part of the front brake lever on the right portion of the handlebars...

could be bad connection or broken wire from one of those if not an adjustment issue...

click here for some mechanical exploded diagrams http://www.bikebandit.com/houseofmotorcy... and look specifically at the one labelled "change pedal-brake" and "front master cylinder" diagrams

FYI...  you can pull the brake pads completely off the bike and the brake light should still work...
