It will be odvious this is my first bike clutch! I am working on a 84 honda nighthawk 700. When I removed the clutch cover to begin diassembling the clutch there was quite a bit of oil in the case. The plates even seemd to be fairly saturated with engine oil. Is this normal? It there supposed to be oil inside the clutch case.

  1. yes its a wet clutch. and you are gonna need a clutch spring compressor to put it back together.

  2. yes normal.  most all metric bikes have a wet clutch.

  3. yes it's normal. You are supposed to soak the new clutch fibers in oil overnight before installing them. If not they'l warp or burn up or something. Actually I don't know what will happen but it's best not to find out.
