Would a Honda Mt50 like this one -

Be classed as a moped when you do a cbt course at 16 years of age in the uk?

Yes, you can do your cbt on that badboy.

50cc is NOT class as a moped, they are classed as motorcycles.

The be in the moped class the engine must be UNDER 50cc

The MT50 is 49cc so no problems

Just make sure if you are buying one it hasnt had the 80cc/70cc big bore kit that everyone seemed to do. As the instructor will check if hes a boffin.

have to agree with th above,proper mopeds with pedals were last seen more than 25 years ago!

at 16 years of age any bike below 50 cc is ok for you to take your dl196 ( c.b.t. ) as thats all you can ride legally but on your 17th birthday you can ride up to a 125 cc on the same cbt certificate that you got when you was 16 because its  valid for 2 years its only your age that restricts you  from rideing a 50cc or a 125cc not the certificate. you can also pass on a twist and go and ride a gear bike afterwards  on it.

use a school bike  and keep yours shiny and scratch free.

if you have problems with gears etc pass on a twist and go

this way he cant stop you from going on the road if you  not got proper controll of gears etc saves you  paying twice think about it its just some wise advice and help im trying to give you.

Fairly sure it also needs to be restricted to 30mph....

yes the pedals went years ago on mopeds 50cc is classed as a moped now,

yes...its a moped,actully all 50cc bikes are classed as mopeds...aint seen one of those in years
