  1. This is an eventuality which every manufacturer has to take into consideration when he designs a bike.  That is why we have folding footrests, crash bars mounted on the frame.  Sometimes even a rear carrier with crash bar.

Even the vibration dampers at the end of the bars can act as small barriers to rest on.  Of course whenever a bike falls, some scratches and alignment problems of the fairing do arise but to minimize that we have the crash bars.  If your vehicle falls on soft dirt (like after an overnight heavy shower) there will be some damage but it will be minimal.  On the other hand if it is dragged some way on the hard tarmac, it means even more scratches.

As my friend sometimes says, "that's what garages are for !"

  2. Frame sliders, pretty good things to have. However, I was watching this video on youtube, and this one guy fell off, but the bike kept on slidding, and he had the frame sliders on too, but I would get them.

  3. Some call them frame sliders and some call them frame savers. Either way they work great for tip overs or maybe even low speed (parking lot) wrecks, but in a true accident they don't do much. But most riders will tell you they have dropped or nearly dropped their bikes many times. So in my opinion the sliders are worth the money. I have a 2008 Yamaha FZ1 and I have them installed on it. What type of bike do you have?

  4. crash bobbins

  5. They are called frame sliders.  They don't cost much.  Good investment.
