Can I get a motorcycle license when I turn 17?

How much would it cost for insurance?

What if I put the insurance under my dad's name saying we only drive it 6 months in the year, and claim my dad will mostly drives it.

He is 40+ years old and he has never been in an accident. Good driver.

Thanks

  1. I live in calif. I got my m/c lic. at age 16. if you have a good driving record m/c ins. isn't that much. I would be honest w/your ins. broker. you mention putting the bike in your dad's name and also that he has a good record. it looks like you might have had some trouble in the area of the DMV. get your lic., talk to an ins. agent and if you can handle it get the bike. don't burden your father.

  2. i am in your position. got my permit when i was sixteen. could have gotten the license at the same age but im stupid. im buying a new bike this week. just for figures its a 08 nightster. $12000. im seventeen now and i am going to be added onto my old mans insurance for something like 100 bucks extra a year. i might be insured as a "dosent really ride this motorcycle that much" kinda thing. (i easily put a couple thousand miles under my legs last year)

  3. If he does not have a motorcycle license tath will not work.

  4. In my state, under 18 can ride a 250cc or smaller bike.

The insurance is going to depend also on where you live and what kind of bike you insure with what company.
