  1. Well.. I had a CZ Jawa motorcycle once which had a mechanism which depressed the clutch everytime the shift gear was used.  It had the regular cluth lever too.  This was just something you could use in an emergency.

The higher the torque of your bike, the more risky it gets.  It is not advisable to shift your bike without the clutch.  If you do, something or the other is gonna suffer and you could end up paying much more than you bargained for simply because you did not use your clutch lever.  The clutch bell, chain wheel sprocket, chain and you will be at the receiving end.  Unless your bike is designed to run without using the clutch, you must not by-pass it.  If you love your bike that is ......

  2. You shift by RPM's. It takes practice.

As soon as you roll off pop it out of gear then when your RPM's drop to match speed of higher shift into higher gear.

  3. Pretty simple actually...just reduce the throttle slightly to relieve the drag on the tranny and pull up with your foot, should shift smooth into the next gear.

Will that hurt your tranny? I doubt it...I one a 1997 YZF 1000R and I use the clutch at stop lights, have been for 10 years.

It will feel about the same as using the clutch..you let off the gas a little and shift.

  4. at the proper RPM range you can shift into gear w/out using the clutch...but if you FORCE pushing it in then it "might" cause damage...you have to do it by feel and get to know your bike and the RPM range...

  5. you can go and put a semi automatic clutch kit in it and you will never use the clutch again

  6. dork

  7. Drew,Generally if you try to save pennies like that you will wind up spending big bucks The clutch is there for a reason. Its cheaper to replace a clutch than a tranny

  8. Juan's answer will roach your transmission and sprocket.

You NEVER "pop it out of gear" forcing it into neutral without being in the neutral position is B A D. I don't care what anyone else has to comment about that statement. Not to mention going back into the gear "dry" is W O R S E.

Do what the 2nd post said.  slightly back off the throttle to remove load on the drive train and linkage, then quickly push all the way up until in the next gear and then roll the throttle on.

If you do what jackass said and pop it into neutral (presumably by accident during practice), immediately depress the clutch, add mild throttle and go UP a gear and then release the clutch..
