  1. Motorcycles have a wet clutch as opposed to a car's dry clutch. You won't do the damage to a bike like a car, but it's still best to use it!

  2. you should always use the clutch so the bike doesn't konk out.

you don't always have to use it when braking, but definetly when you're coming to a complete stop(make sure to shift into nuetral when you're stopped). and don't use the gears to slow the bike down, it's bad for it.

  3. If you do not know how to change gears, then you should not be racing motorbikes.

I take it you are racing, as you have asked this question in the RACING section.

If not, try the motorcycle section under Cars & transport.

  4. Best to use the clutch for changing gears.

  5. starting and stopping are the only times you have to use it.

  6. Sportbike riders sometimes 'speed shift', meaning they don't use the clutch, except for starting out.  I think the transmissions of the really serious sportbikes are designed for this.  But it's always better to use the clutch.

Downshifting is something you do to help slow down, like when coming to a curve.  Or something you do to limit speed, like when going down a long hill, rather than drag your brakes.  So braking can be done at the same time.  But they are separate things.
