I'm having problems with my parents, their divorcing, blaming it on me, etc (long story i don't wanna get into it T^T). Basically their not going to support me anymore and buy me a car, but i need to get to college somehow, and I'm thinking of getting a bike (preferably a ninja 250R) because its cheaper than a car and more efficient, and I've been interested in them for a while. However i do not know whats best for a starter... any opinions? Any type of information would help. Thank you.

I'm, 5'1" (yes i know im short)

  1. My girl got a Yamaha Fz6, she lowered the front and shaved the seat and she sits comfortably with her 5'2" body. I have been riding it and was pleasantly surprised with it, very easy to ride , ergo friendly and has some nice power in the 600cc motor. I rode that for about 10months/15,000 miles (yes, I rode ALOT!!) and I just bought a Yam. R1(not recommended as a starter bike, it's insane!) But yeah, the Fz6 is a great bike.......good luck, and keep the rubber side down.....

  2. I would recomend a crb, gsxr or R6 ( all 600 cc's) even though it is a little bigger, you will learn faster and i promise you will always want the extra power if you get a 250. you wont be any faster then a suburban. so i would say get at least a 600. you can get the suspension lowered to fit you

  3. Try a suzuki boulevard s40.  I'm 5'2" and it is the perfect size right off the showroom floor.  It has a little power but it's easy to drive.

anything in there is good. the ninja 250R is a good starter sportbike, though i'd recommend a cruiser for commuting as they're more comfortable
