  1. Isn't that how ALL 'Motorcycle Racing'

    bikes start !!

  2. Yep sounds like the Regulator/Rectifier has lunched itself. Is it a Honda coz they are renowned for this problem.

The Regulator/Rectifier  transfers the generated power from the alternator to the battery."Over" generated power  is expelled via the cooling fins to the frame and disposes of it thru the frame.

If the Regulator/Rectifier has cooked itself as they quite often do then it will not be able to re-charge the battery.

So the battery will be good for a short time then fade away.

In Australia there is a company that specializes in after market Regulator/Rectifiers which has bigger cooling fins than any factory original and disperses the energy faster and also cools down faster.

There called Shinjenko and based in Melbourne.Great company.

Hope this is of assistance to you!

    Good luck

    Keep the stikkisidedown

  3. Try checking your terminals,  make sure your battery is all the way  dead when charged. Use a trickle charger or Remote Charger (as I believe it's called). Don't let it overcharge with the Trickle charger.  A good rule of thumb is to give your battery a full night of charging every two weeks to keep it fresh. You also may want to have your charging system looked at. My Brother's 250X does this same thing. Good Luck! :D

  4. Your spark plug is fowled or you have a short in your wires
