  1. Sorry to say but I guess it was pretty easy for one guy to sell it.

Unfortunatly for your bf, most people wouldn't buy it without a title.

Is there any proof that the guy your bf got the bike from was really the owner? If he can prove it, than its up to that seller to provide your bf with a title. Now, if your bf tries to sell the bike, he will be expected to supply a title, too. If he gets stopped riding that bike, he will need to supply a registration and in this case, he may have a stolen motorcycle.

  2. Never buy a vehicle without a clear title. It may be stolen or have a bank lien against it for money owed. A "lost" title is no big issue as long as the seller is the actual owner.

  3. Thje seller is obligated to provide the buyer with a mercahantable title.  If I were buying a vehicle, I would never ever fork over any money without first making sure the title was valid.  Your BF's friend doesn't legally own the motorcycle so he can't legally drive it or sell it til he has a title to it in his name

  4. I would never buy a bike with no title. It could be stolen
