  1. It has a bad ignition switch. For now pull the spark plug wire to kill engine

  2. Get a manual, they're easy to fing online if you dig around. Study the wiring diagram, it'll be fairly rudimentary. Go and look at your bike. Make the wiring on your bike the same as the wiring on your diagram. That way you'll get a feel for what everything does and how it's set up. You learn this stuff by doing it. As the owner of an 8 year old bike, this information will doubtless come in handy.

  3. haha, don't pull the plug wire, it'll get ya 4 or 5 times before she quits spinning.... though it would be entertaining to watch you do it.  just stall it

  4. These bikes have always had some form of "modification" by previous owners.

Sounds like you have a connection between the charging circut (alternator) and the ignition.

Starting the bike, the key switches the power to the ignition/start circut, engine starts ok, once the engine is running it generates the current to run the ignition side of the wiring, and the key or engine kill switch will have no effect.

If you can, find the voltage regulator, aluminium box with fins, 5 wires(minimum) 3 white ,1red(usually), from memory left side of bike near battery,  If your wires have been altered trace the red wire(output). this should go to the battery or to the switched side of the key,

(that is the smaller wire from the + battery, not the large one for your starter motor), if it goes anywhere else that's likely to be the fault.

I would connect the output wire directly to the battery.

Hope this helps, and not confuse you.

    Hard to explain in text.

  5. back again....most bikes can be started by simply disconecting 2 wires, which means if there disconected it wont switch off...bikes are earth switched ,all i can sugest is [obviusly] stall it...u need to disconect ever conector on the bike[one at a time] including the ones behind the front light...clean them, remove all corrosion and cover in a littlesmear of petrolium jelly....fingers crosesed that will sort it....and bont forget any earth points...let me knowif uneed owt else...
