  1. I like the question, and the previous answers.  But just to clarify the last two answers, an Suzuki SV650 naked or SV650S is nothing like a Honda Interceptor.  Also, Hyosung's GT650 never used engines made by Suzuki, nor vis-versa.  The Hyosung GT650 engine is a replica of the Suzuki SV650 engine, but there are significant differences.

I chose a 2003 SV650S, because I wanted a light bike, that also was cheap to insure.  Kawasaki's 650R is an unfortunately poor bike - too cheaply made.  It's too bad Honda stopped making the F4i - I think that may be the best of the bunch.

  2. As the first guy stated they no longer make the f4i.  New bikes in this class will the Honda 599 (kinda over priced but maybe the best of the lot), the Suzuki sv650 (great bike at a great price), Kawasaki ninja 650 (no real opinion of it), Yamaha offer two (fz6 good all around bike and another sportier looking one that is all looks I cannot remember the name, and I do not think too highly of Yamaha bikes compared to their rivals).  If cost id real important a company called Hosung(spelling maybe wrong) used to make the sv650 for suzuki but now they make thier own bike that is very simular, I myself wound not buy one because they do not have a real dealer network in place at this time, that said it should be a good bike and I would bet in a few years time they will be right on pace with the other four j*p bike makers even though Hosung is a Korean bike maker.  If you are going to buy a used bike I would try to find a Honda cbr600f4i, I have one and still use it to this day, it is a great bike, no problems to this date and I got it 6 years ago new.  A good friend has a sv650 and also has had no problems.

  3. They dont make the f4i anymore so check the rr, the sv is basically the old interceptor, check out ninja 650's and zzr's, the zzr is the old zx-r. The gsxf is also similar but heavier. Those are the cheaper renamed street bikes...you're looking at roughly a 2500 dollar increase to the new ones...cbr-rr, zx-r, gsxr...etc

    hope it helps
