  1. The same as for guys.  Start with a mid sized one.  Cruisers are lower gravity and balance well with a low seat.  I would look in the 500-600 cc range.  If you want a sport one then i would look at something that has a parallel twin like gs500 or a ninga 250 or such.

  2. All of them.

Go to some dealerships and sit on the bikes.

When you decide on the style you like, if it's not to heavy for you to hold up, that ones good for you.

  3. My daughter rides a Yamaha 250 Virago (VStar) .  One of the young women we know rides a Kymco Venox 250.  Both are fairly new riders.

These bikes are light,  built low, handle well and will keep up with highway traffic.

If you are looking for something a little larger look at the Kawasaki Vulcan 500 or the Honda 600cc Shadow VLX.

  4. light weight

  5. What ever bike you feel comfortable on.  Doesn't really matter, I see women riding all kinds of bikes.

For the folks that say Harley Sportster, that is not correct.  Many people think that Sportsters are for women and that is just not true.  The Sportster was originally designed to be a racing bike.  The Sportster, for a Harley, has a relatively high seat height which makes it less appropriate for most women.  The advantage of the Sportster is that it weighs less than most Harleys, but if your feet don't touch the ground you will be picking it up a lot.  If there is any Harley designed specifically for women it would be the Softail Deluxe.  The Deluxe has a seat height in the range of 24", which enables the average women to sit on it and yet have both feet flat on the ground vs on their tippy toes.

If your a tall woman, you have many more choices available to you than one who is vertically challenged.

The best thing you can do is take a motorcycle safety foundation (MSF) safe riders course.  They will teach how to ride and if you wish, they will help you decide on the right type of bike for you.

Most motorcycle dealers won't let you take a test ride, but most do offer demo days where you can try the various bikes they offer.  You would need to check out your local dealers for information.

  6. It would depend on your size and style preference. I have a friend that just got a new Hyosung. It fits her like a glove. The bottom line is, you will ride one that is comfortable. If it isn't, it will sit in the garage. Try a bunch out.

  7. I just got a 2008 1200 Sportster.  Harley of Course.  It depends on what you are looking to ride.  A sports bike or a something to just chill with.

  8. If you want a cruiser, the Suzuki Boulevard S40 is a good choice. If you want a sports bike, check out the Ninja 500.

Both will give you a power that you won't outgrow, in a bike that will be easy to manage.

  9. It makes no difference if you are a girl/woman or a boy/man. What matters is your experience, your physical dimensions (especially height), what type of riding do you want to do.

Go and look at a LOT of bikes. When you find THE ONE for you... you will know it. It will "speak" to you and call you towards it.

  10. YOU R JUST A GIRL...

GO FOR An AUTO GEAR SCOOTER... bikes can hurt u.

    GIRLS SHOULD NOT RIDE Motorcycles.

BEST FOR YOU IS: VESPA et2

i am sure you will like it.

  11. 2009 Kawasaki Ninja 250R

or if you can handle it....any of the middle class 600cc sportsbikes

    Honda CBR600RR

    Kawasaki Ninja zx6r

    Yamaha R6

    Suzuki Gsxr 600

  12. Honda Rebel 250's are good, but you would probably outgrow it quickly.  My starter bike was a Honda Shadow 600 VLX.  My boyfriend bought me a new Harley 883 Sportster for my birthday last month and I love it.  It sits low (I'm only 5'3) and handles great.  I could have handled a bigger bike, but I really didn't want anything bigger.. I'm only a weekend warrior.  If you are starting out, get an older one because it WILL get beat up.

  13. Harley

  14. Harley-Davidson Sportster.

  15. For those that suggest a Harley Sportster, they are misinformed. The bike has a relatively high saddle height and more importantly is top heavy. The saddle can be replaced with a different one to reduce height along with lowering the forks and shocks to make for a more confident ride. Don't forget the change of kickstand. To answer the question. Visit numerous dealerships and become familiar with all of the bikes that appeal to you. Only you can make the final decision as to what bike is best for you.

  16. 883 sportster

    Kawasaki ER 6.

Depends what you looking for the ER 6 is a great all rounder.

  17. Harleys are great beginner bikes, but I would echo what many others have already said - go to a dealership, sit on some bikes, and find out what fits you best.

BEFORE YOU BUY A BIKE, take an approved MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) course! This is, IMHO, a must for any beginning rider.  I've been riding for quite some time now, but wouldn't have been nearly as comfortable starting out and building the foundation for safe riding if I hadn't taken the class.  Many dealerships offer the MSF course through their Riders' Edge programs, and I know a lot of community colleges do as well.

For me personally, I found that the Sporty was NOT a good starter bike.  I rode a friend's and also rented one for a weekend, and found it to be really top heavy and not good for a beginner.  I had a problem with the skinny front wheel.  I ended up buying a Softail Deluxe, which is the bike that a lot of women start on due to the low seat height (24.5 inches) and low center of gravity.  I can't tell you the number of people who said, "I'm so glad you didn't get a Sporty" when I was in the dealership doing the paperwork on it.

  18. Whatever bike you feel comfortable on.  Get out there to any dealer you can find and sit on as many as you can.  Find what feels right and go for it......just be sure you take a MSF course and learn properly before you get out there.

    Good luck....happy shopping....BTW....women riding is HOT !!
