I have a 1988 honda VTR250 (interceptor). I have never had this problem before. I noticed that the sound of my exhaust was different and when I pulling out of first gear I have to give it more throttle so I do not stall. Also I left the parking garage at work and drove maybe a 1/4 mile to the first stop sign it shut off/stalled on me. And this morning when I was leaving for work it started fine but was sorta not really throttle responsive for a block and then shut off/stalled on me again. I figure it just needs warmed up. Right? I never had the problem before. So choked it and warmed it up and it got me to work with no problems. Is this normal? I have only been riding since Feb. this is my first bike. Any suggestions?

  1. Sounds to me like you gota week spark or a fowled plug.

The exhaust sounds funny when a cyl doesn't fire

Pull em & clean em or

Get yourself a new set of sparklers.

  2. You can't just start it and go. You have to turn the key to start and let stuff initialize 30 seconds, then choke it, then start it. Let it sit for a few minutes. Go put your jacket on, helmet, close the garage, then unchoke it and take off.

Just like s*x man. You gotta get the juices flowing first or ya get chaffed!

  3. sounds like you didnt let it warm up. Older bikes dont have computer feul control and can be quiry, also, id clean the carb at some point as it prob sat a long time

  4. Yea what he said. Fouled plug is about the only self-correcting problem that would give you sound difference and poor throttle response. Check for an oilyor black plug
