Motorway conundrum?

Say you overtake a lorry on a two lane motorway, you pull in like you should and continue at the same speed.

Some time later you find that you are catching up to a line of slower traffic in the outside lane, but there is nothing blocking your lane.

Do you...

Continue in the nearside lane pretending that these idiotic drivers don't exist.

or

Slow down pull into the outside lane and flash your lights frantically

or

Never pull in after overtaking the lorry and continue in the outside lane, despite the nearside lane being empty.

  1. the law states that you must pull back in to the inside lane after overtaking and as for the cars in the outside lane the law states you can undertake if the outside lane is moving slower than the inside lane

  2. If the traffic is cueing and moving slowly it is OK to overtake by staying in the inside lane.

What " moving slowly" means is open to interpretation. But I say they are slower than you so its OK. And I have successfully argued this with the Police

  3. or

Wait until it's safe to pass then do so

  4. i'm a lorry driver, and i can sympathise with you fully,

there is nothing worse than people that will not move out of the right hand lane on a 2 lane motorway and even more frustrating people that do not move out of the 2nd lane on a 3 lane motorway

nothing more annoying than building speed up and changing through 8-16 gears and aproaching some donk hogging the middle lane whilst tailgating 3 other cars and the 3rd lane is free also

i flash lights 3 times as approaching  if they refuse to move

i then look at perfoming a safe undertake manouvre

the problem is that not enough people actually know how to use the motorway

they should make it part of the test

  5. If the traffic is queuing then it is OK to undertake.

  6. yeah that well pi4435 me off !

    -  if with the girlfriend -    then  i`d just chill out and wait patiently -

    - if without -     undertake  and get past em....
