Moulin Rouge Prom...?

I'm trying to convince my school to let my prom be Moulin Rouge themed. Any ideas on how to present it in a tasteful way?? I was thinking a vibrant, romantic vibe, using the red, black, white...

Show them some pictures of some of the can-can costumes from Moulin Rouge. The majority of them are actually quite tasteful.

My senior prom had a fairy tale/Princess Bride theme titled "As you wish..." Perhaps you could title the theme "Come What May" and really emphasize the romance and the color scheme, which is fantastic. Allow them to set the dress code and show them some of your decoration ideas, like a red windmill (which is what moulin rouge translates into), hang some Toulouse Lactrec paintings, and lots and lots of glitter!

Keep in mind that Moulin Rouge is kind of a play within a play, mixing both French and Indian, so you could have, maybe, a giant sitar, and maybe you could, depending on the space available, build a giant elephant to take pictures with, like the one Satine's room is in.

The best thing you can do is show them how tasteful and clean you can keep it.
