  1. Well, since Moulin Rouge technically is a place where prostitutes would dance and entertain men I think it may come off as a little tacky. Also if you went with just the look of the movie, the costumes are a little bit risque and not very appropriate for a wedding. Just my opinion, but you asked

  2. I think its a bit cheesy.  Moulin Rouge is way over the top.  Intentionally so.  The performers are rather like risque clowns--lots of makeup, lots of silliness, can can, and very sexual.  You'd have to have something like circus performers.

Fire, red, windmills, and lots of bling.  Swings and tigers.  Satin in bold bright colors.  and...well...prostitutes.

I think those elements are very difficult to add into a wedding which is a classy, elegant affair.  What exactly about Moulin Rouge do you especially like?

I think the 1940s glam look would work.  With the black top hats, feathers, perhaps some of the old posters and big bulb lights.

However the sequin bras and Vegas style thongs, burlesque and corsets...it just seems difficult to incorporate into the wedding.  Maybe pick a couple of the bold bright colors and you could use sequins and feathers as the centerpieces.

I saw a platinum wedding when they used a 1940s hollywood theme.  They did the names in lights and reels.  You may could see if you could find pictures from that and get some ideas there.

  3. Thats way too cheap for a wedding... They were prostitutes at the Moulin Rouge... doesn't exactly give the fairytale image of wedded bliss... would be a fun theme party though... halloween is coming up...

  4. The Moulin Rouge theme has actually become a very popular wedding theme for those of us who are less traditional and more unconventional.

I'm having a Moulin Rouge themed wedding and there isn't anything risque about it. I'm even getting married in Red.

My belief is that it is your day and it can be as 'traditional' or as 'unconventional' as YOU want it to be. If that's what you want, don't let anyone's opinions keep you from having the wedding you want.

Of course, this is coming from someone who has 'Come What May' tattooed on her wrist...and La Vie Boheme on her back...so...

  5. Here are some articles that might give you some ideas. You don't need to have a theme - but I've seen the Moulin Rouge theme and it is very elegant if done right.

  6. A French prostitute theme for a wedding????

    I vote cheesy.

  7. You want to have a wedding based on a French  burlesque theater? That does sort of blow my mind. Most people go towards the more sophisticated end of the spectrum rather than the tawdry...but it is your wedding...knock yourself out.

  8. Well - as long as you don't go quite as far as the moulin rouge and keep it elegant and classy I think it could be nice!  Found these which may give you some ideas...

Feathers and lots of red are the way to go!  I guess you should just remember that the moulin rouge is basically just a posh w***e house though.... (Not saying that you can't do that theme... but just keep in mind that some people 'could' get offended)

  9. I agree with the other posters.

This is better for a girls only party that you have before the wedding, not for the wedding itself.

  10. it might make a better theme for a bridal shower or bachelorette night...but for a wedding i can't really imagine any sort of decoration that wouldn't be a bit inappropriate...
