Reports from Amsterdam Arena confirm that Mounir El Hamdaoui’s transfer from Ajax Amsterdam to Fiorentina collapsed on the final day of the January transfer window.
The Moroccan ace reportedly agreed personal terms with the Serie A club, but the Amsterdammers demanded a bank guarantee on the final day of the recently concluded winter transfer market.
The Italian club ran out of time to provide prove the availability of funds.
A statement from the Viola stated:
“Fiorentina announce that it has not been possible to complete the purchase of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mounir-El-Hamdaoui-c26905 from Ajax Amsterdam because, after the negotiations had been concluded successfully both with the player and the club, the Dutch club just minutes before the
end of the transfer window asked a bank guarantee to the payment, when there was no time to obtain one, in contravention of common practice followed by all major European football clubs”.
The Moroccan International joined the Amsterdam giants in the summer of 2010 after making 80 appearances for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar. The technically gifted striker was in extraordinary form when he arrived at Amsterdam Arena, netting an impressive 50 goals during his
three-year stay with the Alkmaar outfit.
In his debut season in Amsterdam, he scored 13 goals in 26 matches. However, the 27-year-old failed to maintain good relations with the Amsterdammers head coach, Frank de Boer, and has not featured in any fixture for the Eredivisie giants since April 24,
2011.
