Mountain bike forks?

i am looking to purchase some forks and was wondering could i remove and replace the forks myself or should i go to a bike shop. I like in the UK, in the midlands around b'ham and was wondering how much it would cost to get this done. Also if i did this myself would i need any special tools.

could anybody get me some step by step instructions on how to fir them as well.

  1. There are some specialist tools needed to replace an MTB fork and some very careful work needs to be completed. I recommend that you go to a shop.

    Regarding fork choice, simply make certain that the fork travel remains within 20mm of the original and that you have the correct size steerer. Of course, the shop can help you with that as well.

    I live in San Francisco, California; so, I obviously do not know the cycling scene in the U.K. However, it's been my experience that to do critical work on a bike -- like replace front forks-- it's best to go to a reputable bike shop.
