Mounting Jersey in Shadow Box?

I bought a shadowbox to hang a baseball jersey in, but I'm not sure how to mount it. It comes with a stiff velcro backing, and when I stick the velcro to the jersey, it's heavy enough to roll off. I don't want to sew it on, because it's a collectible, and I can't stick the sewing pins into the stiff backing.

I read on another question about putting a piece of cardboard in the jersey, or something like that...but then the cardboard won't stay in the jersey when I stand it up.

I need help!! This is for my boyfriend's birthday, which is SUNDAY!

generally when putting a t-shirt into a shadow box you don't plan on taking it back out, but what you could do it this, put the cardboard in the middle of the t shirt, and have a piece of cardboard that you could attach Velcro to and put that on the Velcro base of the shadow box, then take the t shirt with the other card board in the middle put it over the other cardboard that is in the shadow box, now get some push pins or twist pins from Joann fabrics, and push them thru to the cardboard.
