Mountjoy Comet likely to dominate the Crayford Bookmakers Sprint
Mountjoy Comet is likely to dominate proceedings in the Crayford Bookmakers Sprint at Crayford in England on Saturday, March 10, 2012. The winning greyhound will be awarded with cash prize of £150.
The 380 metres Grade OR event will see six quality runners in action and their names are: Mountjoy Comet, Wall Saw, Diesel Harry, Crossfield Jack, Says You Maeve and Buglys Boss.
Although all runners are quite capable of winning, the best chances of winning are with Mountjoy Comet, who has been in very good form recently. He is known for his speed, which makes him favourite in the shorter distance races.
The punters will be quite confident that R. Holloway’s trained dog will be able to take victory at Crayford today, as he is in very good rhythm at the moment. He managed to set a very decent trial time at the venue on Saturday, March 3, this year. Other than that, his race performances have also been quite impressive.
The brindle hound finished at the top in his most recent race. Although he was not the favourite for that event, he ended up being the winner. He led right from the start and did not allow anyone else to come closer. The punters will be interested in placing maximum number of bets on him.
Today's favourite runner is the son of Ballymac Maeve out of Star Of Dromin and was born in June 2009.
The bookmakers have also given decent odds to Wall Saw, trained by S. Gammon. He does not have a good strike rate, but has the ability to challenge the best in the business, when at his best.
The white and black dog has been quite consistent over the past few months, but will finds things difficult in this class. He finished first in his most recent outing and will need a similar sort of performance today as well, in order to challenge the race favourite.
Wall Saw is the son of Kiowa Sweet Trey out of Illdriveyahome and was born in July 2007.
Diesel Harry, trained by M. Fawsitt, might also spring up a surprise in the race. He is not a good starter, which matters the most in the short distance races.
Other than that, the least favourite greyhounds Crossfield Jack, Says You Maeve and Buglys Boss are not in good form at the moment. They will find it quite hard to make an impression in this class.
