Mountjoy Eagle to dominate the Chase Restaurant Trophy at Romford
One of the most credible entries for the Chase Restaurant Trophy is Mountjoy Eagle, Droopys Scolari’s two-year-old black and white son out of b***h, Star Of Dromin. The rest of the line-up comprises of Airforce Spirit, Monleek Amigo, Melford Blue, Oneco
Storm and Fabulous Fleur.
The prize money set for the winner is £175. The race will be over 575 metres flat at Romford on 18th May.
Mountjoy Eagle slipped into the season by getting drilled over 277 metres at Yarmouth. It took him 16.86 seconds to race through the distance.
His seasonal debut was in the Primus Telecom Puppy Derby Trial Stakes on 19th January at Henlow over 460 metres. The race was won by the 2/1 favourite of the race, Guinness Dusty, who timed the track distance in 28.84 seconds.
Mountjoy Eagle finished third after taking 29.32 seconds.
He finished second behind the 4/5 favourite winner of the Grade IR Bags Easter Bunny Standard – Heat 1 on 14th March at Yarmouth over 462 metres. The race was won in 28.01 seconds as the runner up, Mountjoy Eagle, settled at a mere neck’s difference.
After this second score, Mountjoy Eagle remained pretty consistent in the upcoming races with the exclusion of a fourth position on 6th April at Romford over 575 metres.
The very next try had the similar outcome with Mountjoy Eagle settling second in the Grade IR Bags/Sis Easter Bunny Standard Final on 19th March at Yarmouth over 462 metres.
The race was won by the 4/5 favourite winner, Pennys Midas.
His first seasonal success was in the Coral Romford Maiden Stayers on 23rd March over 575 metres. He raced across the wire in 36.02 seconds and led the runner up, Pantone Ava, by a length.
The 3/1 favourite of the race, Oscars Debbie, settled third.
He could not strike back to back wins as a fourth position intervened but he bagged the very next chance.
He won a Grade A1 462 metres flat race on 25th April at Yarmouth by completing the trip in 28.28 seconds and leading the runner up, Droopys Aura, by 2 ¾ lengths.
His most recent try in a 400 metres race on 8th May at Romford resulted in a second score as he finished after the winner, Clarecastle Dub, who timed the distance in 24.32 seconds.
If he keeps up with the consistency in the performance, there is hardly anything that will keep Mountjoy Eagle from winning tonight.
