Jose Mourinho has talked to the press ahead of his team’s away encounter with the reigning Bundesliga champions, Borussia Dortmund. Real Madrid have managed to win only once out of their last 23 competitive visits to Germany.
Los Blancos are in the group of the champions. It is considered to be the 'Group of Death' in the Champions League this season. However, they have so far managed to win their opening two games against the English champions, Manchester
City and the Dutch champions Ajax.
Tonight they have on their hands a difficult match on a German soil that has historically been a curse on them.
The defending La Liga champions and nine times Champions League winners had managed to win only one game in their last 23 competitive visits to Germany. It is just a place where they cannot find their better side.
Their last Champions League adventures were cut short by Bayern Munchen, when they defeated Madrid on penalties in the semi-final.
However, Portuguese coach, Jose Mourinho, has contributed Real Madrid's lack of success on German soil to just the quality and strength of German teams.
"The reason Madrid have not thrived historically in Germany is down to the quality of the opposition. If they did not come from a country with a strong footballing tradition, it would be different."
Mourinho continued to comment on the strength of German teams and how they are always a tough nut to crack in Germany.
"It is always a difficult task here in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904, as they have strong teams with ambitions similar to our own. That's how things are: German teams are always strong.”
Finally, the 49-year-old coach also talked about how compact, flexible and gifted the German teams are, but he also revealed how they are not perfect and that he will take advantage of their weaknesses.
"We know how dynamic they are, how gifted and how quickly they play, but they do have little weaknesses which we plan to exploit. We are not that worried about individual players, even though we know they have lots of good ones."
Kick off for tonight’s encounter in Germany is scheduled at 20:45 CET.
