Real Madrid boss, Jose Mourinho, believes the title race is over for his side, but has vowed to keep fighting until the end of the season in order to improve their form in the Champions League.
Mourinho believes his team has no chance of retaining their La Liga title after their 2-2 draw with Espanyol at the Santiago Bernabeu.
However, he vowed that his team will not give up so easily and will keep fighting until the end of the season so that at least their form in Europe improves.
Los Blancos conceded a late equalizer after Juan Albin found the back of the net in the 88th minute of the match.
“I think winning the league is almost impossible, but we still have performed better, because if we improve in La Liga, we improve in the Champions League.”
The Portuguese master tactician has also admitted that his team is not as good as they were before. He stated the fact that his side is finding it difficult to score goals and believes it is because of the lack of confidence and joy in the players.
“We are not as good as before. We do not have the same joy and confidence, and we struggle to score as much as last year.”
Moreover, Mourinho insisted that he will keep fighting for the title regardless of their next-to-impossible chance of retaining their Primera Division title.
“We will continue to fight for the title, even though it seems impossible, because this is Real Madrid.”
Finally, the 49-year-old concluded his remarks on the performance of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857, who was replaced at the interval. The midfielder displayed a fine performance last night.
Mourinho mentioned that he didn’t change the player because he had a bad game. He cited the Croat’s substitution as a strategic move and feels sorry that he took him off.
"Modric was not having a bad game, but I took him off as a strategic decision. I was sorry to remove him as he was doing okay."
