Mourinho Unlikely To Bring In Another Striker At Madrid
Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho said that he doubted the club would sign another striker during the absence of Gonzalo Higuain. The Argentine international is scheduled to undergo surgery soon and will be sidelined for about two months. Mourinho is determined
to land another striker to replace Higuain during the period he is missing.
Higuain will be undergoing surgery to fix a slipped disc in his back, which has kept him sidelined since November. The 23 year old, who was signed by the club in 2007, has been preferred over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Karim-Benzema-c20350 by Mourinho and with him out of action; there have
been rumors that the Spanish giants will be in the market for another striker in this transfer window.
The Portuguese manager said about a month back that as long as Benzema, the French striker, was at the club it would be difficult to bring in another striker. He revealed that he had spoken to Real Madrid president Florentino Perez about making a new signing
but had not received a positive response. However, the transfer window remains open and Mourinho will try his best to bring in a new forward.
Mourinho said, “I don't have much hope that anyone will arrive. After the investments made last year, the club is not much inclined to sign another striker. As it is Real Madrid it can't be just any player. It is not an easy situation but they pay me to
get the most out of the players at my disposal. They are numerous and extremely good, unfortunately there is only one centre forward, who is Karim.”
However, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 manager was realistic as he admitted that a new signing was looking impossible at this point. He talked about how he might have to make do with his current squad. He said, “I understand that until the end of January we will continue
to talk about it because the transfer window remains open, but it seems that we will stick with this group of players until the end of the season.”
Real Madrid are currently second place in the La Liga table, two points behind rivals Barcelona. If Mourinho wishes to keep the pressure on Barcelona, he will have to make sure his squad maintains their current form. He will also have to make sure he has
more striking options; in-case out of favor striker Benzema suffers an injury or picks up a suspension.
