Despite a comfortable win for his side on the weekend, Mourinho did not seem to be happy with the performance of his team and is now urging his players to show more improvement.
The Real Madrid boss believes his side didn’t play to the best of their potential in their 4-0 victory over Real Zaragoza on Saturday.
The defending champions had a comfortable 2-0 lead in the half-time, thanks to goals from Gonzalo Higuain and Angel di Maria. Then two goals from the Ghanaian, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Essien-c25294 and newly signed Croatian, Luka Modric, sealed a comfortable win for Real.
However, Mourinho appreciated the three points his team got from this fixture but also admitted his side must show improvement in their coming matches.
"It was not our best game today. We can and we must play better."
The Portuguese coach admitted that winning the game was the most important part but that there is still huge room for improvement from the part of his players. He feels his team has to perform better if they want to get a head and get results.
"But the important thing for us is to win and to also win calmly. But we have to play better than we did today if we are going to get results."
The 49-year-old also commented on the newly arrived Croatian midfielder, Luka Modric. He said that he likes the player and feels the midfielder is a hard worker who plays well and has already adapted to life at Bernabeu.
"I really like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 since he joined. He works well, and he has adapted very well.”
He also commented on how different the Premier League is from the Spanish League.
"Playing in the Premier League, and playing in the Spanish league are very different, and playing for Tottenham is as well very different than playing for Real Madrid. But he is a great player, and he is adapting very well."
Mourinho knows that he is got a mountain to climb. Their bitter rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 are still unbeaten in La Liga this season and they are currently eight points ahead. He knows his side must keep their foot on the gas since they cannot afford to slip up any
further.
