The curse on German soil continues for Real Madrid as they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the reigning Bundesliga champions, Borussia Dortmund, at the Signal Iduna Park
Los Blancos couldn’t break their dismal record on German soil. Last night, they suffered their first Champions League defeat since the semi-final loss to Bayern Munchen in last season.
The visitors started the match brightly as they started dominating possession. Their momentum was disturbed when their defensive midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sami-Khedira-c32325, was substituted for injury after 20 minutes.
Borussia Dortmund took the lead nine minutes before half-time through a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robert-Lewandowski-c31255 goal.
Los Blancos quickly found a response. Two minutes after conceding the first goal, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629 was quick to react and level things at the Signal Iduna Park as he dinked a chip over the goal keeper.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcel-Schmelzer-c23530 ensured victory for Dortmund after he made the score 2-1 in the 64th minute.
However, Real coach, Jose Mourinho isn’t fuzzed by the defeat at the hands of Dortmund. He preferred to look on the positive side and give credit to their worthy opponents.
“We lost a game, but it isn't dramatic. We are in a serious group, it's no joke. We aren't satisfied, but we're still second.”
Real Madrid and Dortmund are the two teams that seem to qualify from this group as things stand at the moment. In the other fixture of the group, the Dutch champions, Ajax, defeated misfiring Manchester City 3-1.
Moreover, Mourinho believes his team can qualify from this ‘Group of Champions’ following their two wins from three matches which makes them sit on second spot behind Dortmund.
“We have two games at home. And it is within our reach to get the points needed to reach the second round.”
Finally, the Portuguese coach had words of praise for Dortmund fans and revealed that he likes to play in this kind of atmosphere.
“The public here support their team in a very polite and calm manner, without any added aggression. We like to play in an environment like this.”
Real Madrid will be hoping to take the lead in this group as they have two home games left from the remaining three fixtures.
