The Portuguese mentor came at the defence of his Portuguese counterpart, who plays under him at Real Madrid, and believes that he is never protected by anybody.
Cristiano Ronaldo is most definitely one of the best players in the world right now.
The only player giving him competition is the Argentinean maestro, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296.
Recently, while speaking about Cristiano http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ronaldo-c31734, the Portuguese coach, Jose Mourinho, said that he thinks that Ronaldo is a player who is above all the others in the world right now.
Moreover, Jose Mourinho also claimed that since Ronaldo plays phenomenally, the opposition players, especially defenders, try to bring him down and Ronaldo is rarely protected on the pitch by the referees.
When Ronaldo used to play for the English Premier League club, Manchester United, he was often accused of diving inside the penalty box.
However, those allegations have been somewhat lifted from the shoulders of the Portuguese star and now he is often brought down roughly by the opponents.
Therefore, Mourinho has stated that Cristiano Ronaldo has to be protected as he is a player who is simply extraordinary.
While speaking about how defenders react to Ronaldo’s brilliance on the pitch, the Portuguese mentor said:
“Ronaldo is not protected by anybody or because of anybody. Rivals see the body of an animal and they kick him. Bang! Bang! To get a yellow card they need to do that a lot. Bang! Another, no [yellow card]. A foul and then the first yellow, but they can’t
touch him after that because it would be a red.”
Mourinho also spoke about how Ronaldo’s work-rate is far above other players.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 boss mentioned how Ronaldo plays as a winger and has to track back even during the 92nd minute of the game, in order to defend for his team.
While giving reference from El Clasico, Mourinho said:
“He is a winger who defends, who in the 94th minute is capable of a defensive sprint to get behind http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pedro-c29582, who was unmarked. He is a player who in dead-ball situations gets back 20 times because he is key in the defensive strategy.”
