The Portuguese manager asserted that Real Madrid should have scored another goal at the Luzhniki Stadium and added that draw against CSKA is not a bad result.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629 started the proceedings just before the half hour mark and gave Madrid the away goal. The Portuguese national team captain latched onto an ineffective clearance by Zoran Tosic and drilled a left-footed half-volley into the back of the net.
The hosts found it difficult to breach Madrid’s defence, despite http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sami-Khedira-c32325 and Gonzalo Higuain all wasted a lot chances and failed
to increase Los Blancos’ lead.
The Madrid-based club’s efforts to contain the Muscovites were undone in the last minute of stoppage time. Pontus Wernbloom got on the end of a deep cross by Alexey Berezutski, and managed to equalize the score-line.
Jose Mourinho was clearly upset at the missed opportunities and did not shy away from sharing his views in the post-match conference. The two-time UEFA Champions League winner added that the 1-1 away draw is a respectable result for them.
"Without doing anything out of this world, we should have been able to score a second goal," Mourinho told reporters after the game. "But it's not a bad result.”
"Having led the game and conceded so late it doesn't leave a good taste in the mouth, but, at the same time, it's not a drama. I'm not happy but not all that sad.”
The Special One compared this result with the one they managed to achieve against Lyon last season. He reflected that they managed to come out of that fixture and is confident Los Blancos can repeat their heroics this season, with a different team.
"Last year against Lyon it was a similar situation at this stage and we managed to win the second leg at home. We're confident we can do so again this time around."
The second leg of the double header is scheduled to take place on March 14th, at the Santiago Bernabeu. After their UCL adventures, Real Madrid return their attention to La Liga where they lead Primera Division rankings with a 10-point advantage.
