The Special One has stressed that his side cannot afford to be complacent in their upcoming Copa fixture against their opponents.
Real Madrid’s manager, Jose Mourinho, is not ready to take his side’s second leg fixture in the Copa del Rey lightly. The veteran tactician is convinced that anything is possible in football and that his team should be prepared for a test.
Madrid already have one leg in the next round of the Copa as they were able to secure a 4-1 victory in the previous leg. Their opponents in the two legged knock-out clash are Alcoyano. The third tier Spanish outfit are clear underdogs and have a very rare
chance of making it to the next round of the cup.
The previous leg took place at Alcoyano’s home and saw Los Vikingos emerge as clear victors, making them the obvious favourites to qualify for the next round.
However, their manager is not ready to take the fixture lightly as he is ready to make sure that his side qualifies to the next stage.
Considering the fact that Madrid’s recent results have been quite disappointing, it is not hard to understand why Mourinho is not willing to take any risks.
Los Blancos have dropped 11 points in the Spanish Primera Division standings table and find themselves trailing behind their fiercest rivals, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604, and are struggling at the moment.
Nevertheless, Mourinho has mused that he is fully focused on the Copa del Rey at the moment.
"It was a very good result (in the first leg) and it almost puts the team through to the next round, but we know that neither us nor the fans are happy,” the 49-year-old quoted.
"Tomorrow it will not be enough if we lose by a goal or draw and still get through to the next round. We have to win and play well against Alcoyano. Can we win La Liga? I am thinking about winning the Copa del Rey [now]. The 11-point gap and the league I
will talk about on Friday.
"I would like people and fans to be kind to our three young players that will play tomorrow. The team need to play very well, and I think we will qualify."
The match between Alcoyano and Real Madrid will take place at the Santiago Bernabeu.
