The Special One is content with the way Los Blancos have performed throughout their European campaign this term, suggesting that the side have improved under him.

Real Madrid head coach, Jose Mourinho, is pleased with his team’s performance in the group stages of the UEFA Champions League. The veteran trainer mused that the Spanish giants have managed to qualify from a tough group which something he finds motivating.
According to the former Porto boss, he has helped Los Merengues improve their situation in the prestigious tournament. He suggested that upon his arrival the team was doing miserably in the Champions League.
In addition, he also pointed out that Madrid have reached the last four of the competition on the last two occasions under his reign at the Spanish capital.
He was also happy with the way things have gone for his side during this year’s campaign. The experienced trainer quoted that Los Vikingos were drawn in the group of death and they handled the situation very well.
The Spanish champions were drawn against four different champions from around Europe in their group. Madrid were joined by Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City and Ajax in the group stages.
However, the Santiago Bernabeu outfit had little difficulty in paving their way to the last 16.
"When I arrived here Real Madrid was not seeded and didn’t get beyond the round of 16. In the last three seasons we have qualified from the group every year. We have never come to the last match needing to secure qualification and we have lost one of our
18 matches. In two seasons we finished first in the group. Last season broke the record with 18 points and this year we have qualified from the group of death,” said the 49-year-old.
“One of the first placed teams will be hoping for an easier draw than Real Madrid but they are going to play Real Madrid. We are sure to get a tough opponent, but now we are thinking about the cup and the league and the work we need to do.”
Madrid’s latest victory in the Champions League came against Ajax as they were able to secure a 4-1 victory against the Dutch giants.
