The Real Madrid manager wants his team to fight till the last minute of the game and German midfielder Khedira believes that support can spring Real to a turn around.
One of the most pulsating matches in this year’s UEFA Champions League endured a shock result in the first leg.
Former German champions Borussia Dortmund invited reigning Spanish champions Real Madrid in the semi final stage of the competition. The first leg provided one of the shocks of the round as Barcelona’s earlier beating by the hands of Bayern Munich got replicated
in Dortmund giving the Madridistas a similar shaking.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robert-Lewandowski-c31255 turned out to be the hero of the night as he netted in four goals, becoming the only player in the history of the tournament to score four past the mighty Real Madrid.
Dortmund ran out 4-1 winners with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629 scoring the only goal for the Madrid side, when he equalised Lewandowski’s early strike, late in the first half.
The Portuguese captain’s goal is probably Madrid’s only lingering hope in a despairing Champions League tie and Jose Mourinho has asked his players to give it their all in pursuit of the Champions League final berth.
The Santiago Bernabeu side will have to score three goals at the least and that too without conceding a single goal from the Germans, in order for them to proceed.
In case that Dortmund scores a single goal, Madrid will have to match the score line at Signal Iduna Park in order to force extra time.
Jose Mourinho, the Real Madrid manager is confident that his side can spring a comeback and wants full commitment from all of his players, asking them to run till the final whistle.
"For me it is just football, it is a 90 minute match and we are losing 1-4. In football it is possible. The way we played in Dortmund was too poor for us to think that we could play a similar match and have a chance to turn things around. They all want to
play and that gives me confidence and hope to be able to think it is possible. We have to play minute by minute and goal by goal until the last breath".
Midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sami-Khedira-c32325 has also asked the Real Madrid faithful to drive their team forward for the entire span of the game and believes that the crowd’s support will be a vital factor.
“The home crowd's support is crucial in these matches and it can be a decisive factor,” he told the official Real Madrid website. “I am convinced that the Madrid supporters will give us wings in this match too.”
The return leg is set to be played on Tuesday night at Santiago Bernabeu where Real Madrid will be looking for an early goal to spark a comeback.
