I have read that it is ok 2 give Mice baths, or @ least let them go swimming. I was going 2 let my mouse swim around but i didnt know if she could get wet tail or not. Is there anything i should know about preventing wet tail? is it okay 2 bathe her?How does giving rodents bathes make them sick? does water temp. matter? I need advice and possible sources! thanks!

  1. Rodents bathe themselves,  so i wouldnt bathe it.

  2. Are you serious? I don't know where you heard this.  Mice don't need baths.  They groom themselves.  A bath would put so much stress on them and they could die of a heart attack or go into shock.  Yeah, you can put your mouse in water to swim if you want it to die.  Just don't do it.  Please use common sense.

  3. it actually is possible to give mice a little swim but dont attempt giving them a bath. ive seen mice actually enjoy swimming. they do a lap around a part of the pool and then come back to the 'platform'.

but of course, not all mice can do that. yours might be terrified of water so i wouldnt really risk it.

if you really want to, start off with a shallow dish and fill in about a centimetre of lukewarm water. drop some frozen peas in and lower the mice in slowly.

over time theyll begin to realize that they cant possibly drown in such shallow water so you can move them into a deeper bowl or dish.

just remember, whenever you take your mice to go for a swim, make sure theres a place they can stand on if they dont want to go in the water.

    good luck!

  4. Bathing mice is not necessary. If you set them up in a nice enclosure and keep it clean, mice will handle the rest. Mice are very clean animals. They don't like to be dirty and will bathe themselves regularly. You really should not have to bathe them. It's also a bad idea to get a mouse wet. They are very small and will chill easily, and respiratory infections are dangerous for them. If your mouse is dirty, most often, it will clean itself. If it's sick and not grooming, you can try rubbing it gently with a soft, damp cloth, but most mice won't stand for that, unless they're very, very tame. Mice will also groom each other, if you have more than one living together. If you insist on cleaning your mice, the safest way is to use a warm, damp towel with just water on it. Just gently wipe them off. But be careful, they don't always enjoy it and will probably try to get away.

You can also view this website for dust baths. Again, I find that bathing mice is unnecessary, but this may be something you can look into.
