  1. Good old snap traps are the most humane. They kill quickly and are reusable too.  Place them in a box or put things beside them so the mouse approaches from the trigger end.

Really a fast death is better for the moue and you.  Trying to be "nice" and move them does no good and is torture to the little guys.  Really.

Be sure to put out 3 or 5 traps. There are always more than one mouse.

  2. in all my years i only came across one that comes to mind; fill a 5 gallon pail half full of water place a wooden stick long enough to reach from the floor to the middle of the top of the pail .place some bait to the bottom of the stick over the pail. as the little rascal try's to eat all the bait from the bottom side  it will lose its balance and fall in..to be humane cover or remove stick when not around to fish it out .last tip place along a wall that you notice it droppings or witness its travel. good luck.

  3. If you want to build one yourself, the toilet roll/paper towel roll trap is pretty good.  Make sure the container the mouse falls into has a high lip, 2 1/2 feet or more.

If you're willing to spend some money, this is also a good live trap:

Release them far, far away (50 miles ideally) from where you live or they may return.  If you have them longer than 10 hours before releasing, give them some water--your whole point is to be humane, no?  Good luck.
