  1. A hybrid would be best. A cruiser is good for casual riding but not great for long miles and fitness riding. A MTB will do but isn't well suited for general riding. Yes, you can change the tires for smooth and faster road riding, but if your buying a bike why not get the bike that's best for your intended use?

  2. I'd go with a mountain bike, given the choice.

They can be adapted to road use - with the addition of bar-ends, thinner tyres & the saddle/handlebars can be adjusted to be more aerodynamic if required.

Front suspension won't be that necessarily, unless you are going on any off-road terrian , because they can slow down your average riding speed.

Cruisers, however fun & cute as they may look, are really just meant  for easy-paced & relatively short rides - not quite the best kind of bike for riding miles & miles.

Try them both out, with a spin around the block or so - and see what "feels" best.

  3. Mountain. Proberly because there is no real difference in the speed both can go. And as you said you would like the comfort (as well as a nice price) so the mountain bike would suit both. As for the miles, if anything the mountain bike would be better because there is less strain on your muscles. And it is a bonus if you want to ride around parks because it is very hard to get around all the obsticles that are around. So i would think that the mountain bike would win over the cruiser, in what is better for you.

I hope i helped anser your question.
