Question:

Mouth Sores on Dwarf Gourami?

My daughters dwarf gourami shares a tank with 2 platties; 4 neons; 1 cory and 3 guppies. The gourami was the last fish added after about 3-4 weeks after the others. She noticed that there was a sore on it's lip, looks like a red pimple and another one showed up on the opposite side on the lip. It shows no signs of distress, eats fine, acts fine but looks like it has two pimples on it's lip. I have looked the web over and have found no answer or discription to what this might be. It's not cotton mouth, but she has treated it once for a fungus condition just to be safe, but no change. Has anyone experienced anything like this before? None of the other fish have it and it has not got any more sores like this on any other part of it's body.

  1. this actually sounds like the gourami might have gotten hurt on a decoration or something

make sure there are no sharp edges on any of them

also try to keep the water as clean as possible, which means

0 ammonia and nitrites at all times

and nitrAtes below or not higher then 20ppm
