Reports in England suggest that Andre Villas-Boas is preparing to lodge a 25 million bid for Porto’s midfielder Joao Moutinho which will mostly be funded by the sale of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857.
Numerous tabloids and newspapers in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 suggest that Villas-Boas is keen on signing his compatriot from former club Porto.
The Portuguese international impressed during the Euro 2012 Championship and is considered as a replacement for Croatian midfielder Luka Modric. Modric has been long been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane, with Spanish giants Real Madrid as the
club most likely to sign him.
Manchester United and Chelsea have also been linked with Moutinho. At one point, United looked like the favourites to land the player, up until Villas-Boas expressed an interest in him. Now it looks like the Portuguese midfielder will opt for Tottenham as
he would be keen on a link up with Villas-Boas.
Tottenham hope to receive an excess of £30 million from Real Madrid for Modric, who have also reportedly offered them Turkish international http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Esteban-Granero-c12919 in a part exchange deal.
The North London club's pursuit of Moutinho has paved the way for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 to sign Brazilian playmaker Oscar, who was on Tottenham’s radar for the greater part of last week. Sources stated that the club had pulled out of the race for the youngster and are
looking for a more experienced box-to-box midfielder.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Oscar-c28720 was set to sign for the North London outfit, but his representatives considered a move to Chelsea more crucial for the player’s career.
Speaking to a Brazilian newspaper, his agent said:
"Chelsea did offer 25m (£19.8m) but there is still no agreement between the clubs.”
"That may happen in the next few days. Oscar's other agent, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Giuliano-c15014 Bertolucci, will travel to England to finalize the remaining details.”
"Tottenham also made an offer, but he should accept Chelsea's offer as there is more exposure there."
Tottenham’s midfield currently boasts of Scott Parker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422, Sandro, Rafael Van Der Vaart and new signing Gylfi Sigurdsson, among others. Moutinho’s arrival will surely strengthen the midfield and add much needed depth to the squad.
Moutinho has reportedly flown to England and will commence talks with Tottenham later this week.
