Move to Chicago Bears: former Miami Dolphins wideout Brandon Marshall excited over prospects-NFL News
Former Miami Dolphins’ wideout, Brandon Marshall, has said that his transfer to the Chicago Bears is going to yield a good outcome for both sides in future.
In spite of some uncertainty he said to have been through following the trade that has come about in exchange for a pair of third-round draft players, Marshall has apparently accepted the move as a right step forward for all parties.
In addition to foresee the decision as serving the interests of both teams, the transfer has facilitated the player to reunite with his former colleague, quarterback, Jay Cutler, as both have played together for the Denver Broncos.
Marshall said of his trade:
"It doesn't make any sense to pay a guy $2 million and only expect him to have 60 or 65 receptions, or 70 receptions in (Miami's) new offense."
He went on to say:
"Also, if you don't have a quarterback, it doesn't matter who you have out there. You can bring Jerry Rice back in his prime and he's not going to be effective. It makes sense on the business end, and also - the fit as far as philosophy-wise just wasn't
there. I can understand the change, and honestly this is the best move that could have happened for both sides."
His trade happens to be a rare transaction by Dolphins following their activity in the 2012 NFL draft, held from April 26 to 28.
The team has not disclosed profiles and details of the prospective draft picks they will receive from Bears in exchange for Marshall.
Apart from the excitement over the move expressed by the player, no apparent opinion or remark on wisdom of the decision has come from any of the teams’ managers.
The decision is reportedly backed by Dolphins’ top brasses, who, amid the fans criticism, are weighing the team’s need at different positions, and seeking to strengthen the squad.
Dolphins’ bosses have been targeted by local fans in their protest campaigns recently, expressing their anger over mishandling of some of the team’s affairs.
