Moveing in nine months what can i do

i live in a very nice area. our house was built in the 90s. it has very dark blue carpet. and the kitchen is bad but not unusable the stove and dishwasher and fridge is about 15 years old same as the hot water heater. i got an alarm put on the house was that worth it. it cost 45 dollars a month. we plan to get new carpet in the whole house and maybe new stuff for the kitchen what would u do.

This could be a "test" question because it has 1,000 possible answers.  YOu could keep this house in case you ever move back to the area.  You could sell it today just the way it is.  You could look at all the decorating magazines and invest $20,000 to make it look brand new before you sell it.  

    Sometimes you invest $20,000 and realize that you should have saved your money.  THe buyers liked the location and pulled out all your carpet.  Other times the buyers all leave saying "YOu didn't fix it enuf".  You can never know.  So you take a chance and do whatever you want./


  2. First, how does your house compare to the others in your neighborhood? New flooring and updating the kitchen are always good ideas. However, don't over do it. No one will pay extra if you go overboard. Especially now.

    I would worry more about the market in your area. If houses in your area are staying on the market for several months, I would get busy now with prepping your house and getting it listed.
