  1. The two songs that I am going to suggest are from Romper Room.

    Bend and Stretch

    Flopsy

I hope that I helped you out a little.

  2. Fingerplays, such as "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" and "Head and Shoulders, Knees and Toes" are great.  You can find lots of them in the books listed below.  Simon Sez is another fun activity that teaches listening skills while getting kids active.  Putting on different types of music and having them move to the rhythm (fast dance, slow classical, etc.) is also great.

The website http://www.canteach.ca/elementary/songsp... has lots of wonderful songs for small children, all listed by subject.

Wiggle worm is a fun game.  The teacher holds up a bunch of flashcards with different pictures (can be shapes, animals, letters, whatever you are working on), and has a few pictures of the wiggle worm mixed in.  As the teacher shows each card, she asks "Is this the wiggle worm" and the students reply, "No, it's __."  When they get to a picture of the wiggle worm, they all stand up and wiggle around for a minute, and then sit down to continue the game.

  3. Freeze is a fun song - where you play the music and stop and they have to freeze.

Or - shake your sillies out -

we're gonna shake shake shake our sillies out

shake shake shake our sillies out

shake shake shake our silly out

    and wiggle our wobbles away.

    I wiggle my fingers,

    I wiggle my toes

    I wiggle my shoulders

    I wiggle my nose

Now my wiggles are out of me

And I'm just as quiet as I can be.

Open them shut them open them shut them

    Give a little clap

Open them shut them open them shut them

    Lay them in your lap

  4. Relate the gross motor activity to the lesson just finished.

Show the picture of the dog again and say "Let's march for the dog."

While marching in place, say rhythmically, "This is a dog, this is a dog."

Show the picture of the cat and say, "Let's jump for the cat."

While jumping in place, say rhythmically, "This is a cat, this is a cat."

Repeat the pattern running, dancing, stamping, and tiptoeing.

  5. You can do songs like Head and Shoulders, knees and Toes.  Or get you a good music cd like Kids Bop and play it.  Have the children dance to it.  Play a game where you tell the children to get up and take 5 big steps around your room, or tell them hop like a rabbit something like that.

  6. Duck,Duck,Goose

    Red Light, Green Light

Head,Shoulders, knees and Toes (sing 2ce once in English then in Spanish)
