OK heres the deal...

I am in charge of my family's Easter movie

We're putting a large amount of photos and home video together on ONE disc!

BY EASTER!!!!

Ok so now that you've heard my dilema let me ask ya a quick question...

I'll be playing the video on my relatives TV she has a DVD/VHS player but does not play CD's to my knowledge...

SO...I have a digital camcorder not a DV one so HOW DO I PLAY MY VIDEO AT MY RELATIVES? NOTE: I do not have a computer that burns DVD's...am I purely out of luck or are you my hero of the day and have a fantastic souloution????

  2. DV camcorders *are* digital - DV stands for Digital Video.  So, that said, you've got a couple of choices -

    Add a DVD burner to your PC - they're less than the price of a DVD now, so maybe the family will buy one.

    Make a VCD or SVCD.  You'll need to get hold of Super and Ashampoo Burning Studio Free (links below).  Edit your movie and save it as the best quality for playback on your computer.  Take the .wmv file you've just created and convert it to "MPG VCD Compliant" using Super.  This will create a .mpg file.  Use  Ashampoo Burning Studio Free to make a VCD from the .mpg file.  This *should* play on most DVD players.  If you've got time, try converting to "MPG SVCD Compliant" and burning another CD.  The quality should be higher, but you're more likely to run into compatibility problems with the DVD player.
