Movie editing? final cut 4.0?

Im looking to do some home video editing. Im getting a macbook and want to know if final cut 4.0 is a good program to buy with it? are there any websites with tutorials or pictures to help me decide? all opinions welcome. thanks.

Final cut is a very good program to use, but it can be overwhelming at first. The manual is also intimidating.

If you're looking to edit things like home movies than I would recommend just sticking to imovie. It's simple and intiutive and lets you do things fast and easy.

Final cut would be more appropriate if you were making short films or even feature length films. It allows you to add layers of sound clips (doesn't seem like much but Windows Movie Maker only allows an extra layer), stack video, and has a huge range of video transitions, effects, filters, etc.

It really comes down to how ambitious your projects are and what the scope is. Final cut is a wonderful program, it just has a steep learning curve.
