Movie hype of the late 90s?

Remember from 97 to 99, you see countless merchandise for movies like Men in Black, Hercules, Lost World, Batman and Robin, Godzilla (the american one), Small Soldiers, A Bug's Life, Lost in Space, and The Phantom Menace? You'd see things like toys, clothes, books, comics, etc, it's as you'd hear about them every day. They had lots of hype as well, though some weren't so great. Have you experienced the same thing?
