Movies for my iPod classic????

i just got a new iPod 80GB classic and i was wondering......can i take my own DVD (say, Napoleon Dynamite) and convert it in iTunes or some other thing so that i can watch it on my iPod? is that possible?

also, does watching a movie on ur iPod use a lot of battery? like does a 2 hour movie use up all of the battery and then u have to recharge it after? especially on my 80GB iPod?
