Question:

Movies with sociological content?

Hi, I m currently the vicepresident of a Sociology student group.

We're planning on having a monthly feature called Sociolgy Movie nights in which we'll show films with Sociological content, followed by a discussion guided by someone specialized in the field related to the theme of the film we watch.

But right now I can't think of a film that's worth being analyzed.

So if you have any suggestions, please tell me.

  1. City of God (Cidade de Deus)

Great movie, based on a true story about a boy growing up in Rio de Janeiro slums.

  2. Breaker Morant.

Its dated, but its got everything you are looking for.

Strongest Country on the earth using military force (Great Brittian, in this case); a colony of the empire (Austrailia) trying to break free on its own; a suppressed local culture; a "kangaroo" trial for political purposes, a mix of religion, and on and on.

    Enjoy.

  3. Hedwig and The Angry Inch

    Dr. Strangelove

    Breakfast at Tiffany's

    Forest Gump

    Crash

    Boys Don't Cry

    Gangs of NY

    Wag the Dog

    Walk the Line

    8 mile

these are just a few. There are actually a lot of different movies for different sub-topics of scociology...Feel free to email me if you want more info.
