Moving To A Different State What About Child Support Case?

I live in Az and have a child support case open even though the father hasnt paid in 2 years. Now im moving to New York and dont know if I have to close my case in Az and then reopen it in NY or when I get to NY do they just transfer it for me??

Any info would help Thank You

  1. when you get to ny open a case there. they will automaticaly have the case transfered from az.

    yes they do transfer it though, if you get a court order, they just take it from his pay

You can try to file for a change of jurisdiction to NY, but if it's not approved you'll have to complete the process in AZ.  The transfer won't be automatic.  Even if you have the case in AZ dismissed, you'll have to file for a change of jurisdiction before NY will attempt to enforce the existing support order.  Unless there is a change of jurisdiction, the court where the order was adjudicated is where it must be enforced.

  4. I believe where you open the case is where you will have to close it.  I would contact an attorney if I were you.
