  1. Use Ohm's law to calculate the p.d. across the meter terminals:

    V = I * R = 0.005 * 100 = 0.5v

    If 5 mA is going through the meter, then the f.s.d. current through the parallel resistor = 10 - 0.005 = 9.995 A

    R= V/I = 0.5 / 9.995 = 0.0500 ohms
